A place where the sun rises and sets across the sea! It's possible to view the sun rising above the West Sea due to the Earth's rotation and revolution. The sun rises in the southeast direction of Maryang-ri for about 60 days around the winter solstice. In particular, you can enjoy the sun rising from and setting across the sea from one place, which highlights the mysteries of nature. The Maryangpo Sunset and Sunrise Festival begins with a sunset event in the afternoon on December 31, followed by year-end messages and appreciation of the sunset. Then, as midnight approaches, fireworks and New Year's concert among other events are held, and countless people gather to watch the sun rise on New Year's Day.
